Everest Refrigeration (Pty) Ltd was established in 1993 in Pretoria. Since its inception it has been owned and managed by Jimmy and Michelle McIntosh. Jimmy, a dynamic entrepreneur, has been in the business for over 50 years.
He is a Refrigeration Technician and an approved Electrician and is known in the industry for his hands-on approach. He also holds a Financial Management Diploma which assists him with the management of Everest Refrigeration.
Michelle obtained a Small Business Management diploma and together they form the backbone of the company.
Its main business operations include the installation and servicing of Supermarket refrigeration. Their operations extend throughout Gauteng and the Northern Province, and they are continually expanding their footprint into further regions of Southern Africa as well as the rest of the African Continent.
Everest Refrigeration Botswana (PTY) Ltd was opened in Francistown in 1998 and later in Gaborone in 2004. The McIntosh’s founded Scotcool Refrigeration Wholesalers (Pty) Ltd which opened in Francistown in 2001 and Gaborone in 2004 which catered for Everest Refrigeration Botswana (Pty) Ltd refrigeration needs, Scotcool Refrigeration Wholesalers (Pty) Ltd was sold in March of 2010 to Metraclark, the largest refrigeration wholesaler in Africa.

Everest Refrigeration (PTY) Ltd pioneered the change from Freon 12, Freon 502 gas to the environmentally friendly R 404 / 507 / R 134A gas. Since this process was then still relatively unknown and unused it presented both a challenge and a risk factor for the company. Everest Refrigeration (Pty) Ltd did not hesitate to engage in the process illustrating their commitment to environmental responsibilities.
